Mr. Bimal Verma

An 8,000-square-foot plot on the outskirts of Bhopal is developed as a dream home for a family of four when borders between indoors and outdoors become virtually non-existent. The answer lies in the brief provided by the client where she mentioned that her home needed to be close to nature and lots of space which brings the family together. This wholeheartedly designed four-bedroom harbor is a well-defined mix of ethnic and vernacular forms.

The entire house overlooks an introvert east-facing Veranda which continues into a lush green landscaped area, makes a statement of the entire theme. The correct amount of air and sunlight are ensured by windows and semi-covered areas near the dining room and bathrooms. The use of earthy exposed bricks, colored glass, and Athangudi tiles define the character of the building. A vernacular-inspired sloping roof, reused & recycled teakwood and jack arch roof with hollow bricks used as part of decor clearly depicts the client’s dedication to sustainability.
